Woven through the art of poetry, A Generation of Nyab writes of unspoken tales from the young girls whose eyes gazed upon the chapter of becoming a Nyab. Whether through arranged marriages or bride kidnappings, the many different tales share moments of struggle, loss, and betrayal. Through research, interviews and oral history, A Generation of Nyab uncovers the stories that were once buried beneath the soil of the earth, finally blooming to reveal their truths. By committing these stories and images onto the page, A Generation of Nyab immortalizes not only the tears and tribulations of the Nyab in our lives, but also their resilience, grace, and strength.
