ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Khou Vang is the Hmong Program Director at New Millennium Academy Charter School in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. She has taught math for thirteen years, coached and mentored teachers, and she has taught Hmong Language and Culture for grades K-8 for a year. Khou has always had the passion for Hmong Language and Culture where she learned, studied, and taught the Hmong language through the church for many years. Khou is a wife and mother to three blessed children.
Pakou Xiong is a mother of four beautiful children with her amazing husband. She had a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Saint Catherine University, Minnesota. She also holds a Montessori Assistant Guide certificate and worked at the very first Hmong Montessori childcare center for six years. Pakou is currently a Hmong Language Teacher at New Millennium Academy, Brooklyn Center and have been working since August 2020. She grew up speaking the Hmong language at home, where she self-taught herself how to read, write, and spell in Hmong. She is currently working on her master’s degree in World Language with a focus on the Hmong Language at Concordia University, Moorehead. In her free time, she likes to watch movies, spend time with her family, listen to true crime, travel the world, and likes to cross stitch.
