American Sign Language for Hmong Families book provides a caring and well-organized path for learning ASL. It introduces the alphabet, counting, and common phrases where families and beginners can learn this unique language. We believe that by having such ASL education resources for our Hmong community, our Hmong families and educators can help empower the teaching of deaf and hard of hearing infants and toddlers in early age. That will support and nurture smoother communication at home, easing frustration and enriching the quality of life for Hmong deaf and hard of hearing students as they grow and learn, as well as helping family members connect and communicate with greater understanding.
This book project is made possible through the support of the Coalition of Asian American Leaders’ Ignite Grant and partnership with the Hmong Educational Resources Publisher. Together, we’re committed to uplifting Asian American leaders and organizations in Minnesota by confronting long-standing inequities and fostering deeper, more meaningful investment in our diverse communities.
